Day 50 (October 9, 2006) - Mt. Shasta
<<^>>
Petr: I will spend the day around Mount Shasta and the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, on my way to Lassen tomorrow. I stopped first at Shasta Lake and after about 60 miles i reached the summit of Mt. Shasta. I left the RV in the parking lot by the Visitor Center and rode the Vespa around, although it was pretty cold up there. My hands were frozen and I took just a few pictures. I spent the night in Redding.

Laura: It's Columbus Day today and it's a holiday. However, I get up to work a little and my friend Christine calls to make arrangements for an outing together in the afternoon. It's yet again an incredibly warm day, even warmer than yesterday. We decide to go roller-blading and then hook up with Phil for a bike ride. Francesca has made plans to go to Harvard Square with some friends. We meet in Lexington Center, roller-blade to Bedford and back, then Phil and Christine bike to my place while I drive home to switch to a bike. I have put together a spare road bike that Petr bought for parts. After testing it on the road, I might consider keeping it as a backup bike for winter indoor training... We rode about 15 miles with some hilly stretches. Fun, fun, fun! Thank you guys!

Petr: Shasta Lake.

Petr: Mount Shasta.

Petr: One stop on my way up.

Petr: Start of a trailhead, which I did not take :-)

Petr: Mt. Shasta, from the highest point reachable by car.

Petr: A view of the road up. The Vespa made it no problem!
